Holi is a very colourful and vibrant festival. We all love to play with Holi colours on the streets and parks. However, the trouble begins when the Holi colours reach your house. We spend so much of our funds on the interiors and furnishing of our houses. That is why, safety of your home from Holi colours is very essential.
Keep the colours safely out of your home and you can still enjoy playing Holi. Yes, that is easily said than done. But a few smart home safety tips pre-Holi is all that you need protect your home against any damage from Holi colours.
Here are some easy ways to protect your home from Holi colours this year.
Door knob
The door knob is the first thing you will touch after you come back home from the Holi celebrations. You will invariably touch it and leave it stained. That is why, we suggest you to apply some turpentine oil on your door knob a day before Holi to keep it stain-free. Turpentine oil is an oil that is easily available in any hardware store. But if you don't find it, just apply some mustard oil on the door knob.
Hand prints on walls
Apply a coat of anti-stain varnish on your walls to ensure that you do not damage them. Or else, you can push all your furniture against the walls so that you are not in close proximity to the walls at all.
Bathroom tiles
The bathroom tiles get painted with Holi colours when you bathe. So keep a portable tub in your bathroom. You will be bathing inside this tub after playing Holi. It is almost impossible to remove colour stains from bathroom tiles later.
Garden Shower
To reduce the amount of mess in your home, you can take a pre-functionary shower with a hose pipe in the garden. This washes away the loose colours. And you don't end up leaving a colourful train behind you.
Cover Furniture
Use old bedsheets, curtains, dupattas and sarees to cover all your furniture. Wooden furniture can be cleaned, but your leather stuff must be covered to avoid damage.
Taps n showers
When you go into the bathroom to bathe, you have to touch the taps for the shower. So apply petroleum jelly on them beforehand. This will make sure that they do not get stained with colours.
Sink
Never use the bathroom basin or sink to wash your face. The porcelain or tiled basic will get stained. Go straight to the tub and start bathing.
These are some easy ways to keep your home safe from Holi colours.
